10-year old NRI named Britain’s ‘Child Genius 2016’

RheaRhea age 10, has been crowned Britain’s brightest child after she won a popular Channel 4 TV quiz contest.

Rhea moved to the UK from the US six years ago with her family and now lives in west London. Her mother Sonal, who gave up her job as an obstetrician to train Rhea, had stepped in to correct an incorrect answer that she gave during her specialist subject round on Florence Nightingale.

The independent adjudicator Olivia van der Werff agreed the question was too general, and she accepted Rhea’s answer. It was important, as Rhea thereby avoided a tie-break with another contestant who ranked 3rd, with Rhea and another girl Saffy securing their place in the finals.

For her intervention Sonal received some criticism on social media who called her ridiculously pushy.

The quiz show is hosted by Richard Osman who said this year’s show was the greatest final in the history of ‘Child Genius’.
