23-year-old NRI is one of youngest US state lawmakers

Niraj Antani, 23, a law student at the University of Dayton has been elected to the Ohio House of Representatives, becoming one of the youngest state lawmakers in the US thus far. He defeated Patrick Morris, 62, of the Democratic Party. A grateful Antani who thanked his supporters, is the second NRI – after Jay Goyal, who served 3 terms from the 73rd District in the Ohio House. Antani's parents went to the US in 1987 and settled in Washington Township. They later moved to Miami. His father Jaimini died in 2010. Meanwhile Saira Blair, 18, a freshman at West Virginia University has become America's youngest elected lawmaker as a delegate in the West Virginia House. She will represent a small district in West Virginia's eastern panhandle.
