35,000 Indians acquired EU citizenship in 2014

euCitizenshipAccording to the EU’s statistical bureau some 35,000 Indians acquired citizenship of a member state of the European Union in 2014.

The bureau said 63.6 percent opted for British citizenship, 14.2 percent for Italian and 8.3 percent for Irish.

The number of Pakistanis that acquired EU citizenship in 2014 was 25,100, with Britain leading as the chosen destination ahead of Italy and Spain. The largest number of citizens of an EU member state in 2014 was Morocco, followed by Albania, Turkey and India.
