5875 Indian workers died in Gulf countries in 2015

INTERESgulfThe Indian government reported that 5875 Indian workers died in Gulf countries last year, with the maximum number of 2691 deaths reported from Saudi Arabia.

This was followed by the UAE with 1540 deaths according to the Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh, who reported the figures while replying to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Qatar reported 279 deaths, and 520 workers died in Oman. In Bahrain there were 223 deaths, 611 in Kuwait and 11 in Iraq.

Minister Singh ruled out any co-relation between the deaths and hazardous employment occupations, and said the deaths of the workers was mostly due to natural causes and traffic accidents.
