6 NRI researchers to be honoured by US President Obama

INGEN[ousaSix US NRI researchers are among a group of 106 scientists and engineers who will be honoured by US President Barack Obama with an award that is the highest US government prize for young researchers.

The NRIs selected for the Early Career Awards are Milind Kulkarni an associate professor at Purdue University; Kiran Musunuru an Assistant Professor at Harvard University; Sachin Patel, assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Centre; Vikram Shyam,a technical innovator in fundamental aeronautics at NASA’s Glenn Research Centre in Cleveland; Rahul Mangharam from the University of Pennsylvania and Shwetak Patel Professor in Computer Science and Engineering .

Congratulating the group Obama said he encourages them to continue to serve as an example of the incredible promise and ingenuity of the American people.

Established in 1996, The Presidential Early Career Awards highlight the key role the Administration plays in accelerating American innovation to grow the economy and tackle the greatest challenges.
