Safra Catz, global CEO of the $40 billion software major Oracle Corporation, who addressed a Nasscom summit in Mumbai, said almost 30% of its employees are in India, and if one looks through entire management teams across the world you realise three quarters is from all parts of India. She is impressed with the policies of the Modi government and sees its investments accelerating in Mumbai.
She said Modi’s recent speech at Silicon Valley made her realise the potential of Digital India. She believes a bit of marketing can help bring more women into the STEM space. Considered among the highest paid women leaders globally, her advice to aspiring women professionals is to ‘keep working, don’t give up and don’t take it personally’.
It was actually Larry Ellison who saw the potential of intellectual ability in India very early. He said India was the most fertile opportunity for his company and that is why they have been so successful in India.
