The organiser of the Jaipur Art Summit, R B Gauttam said he exhibit was meant to highlight how cows suffer after ingesting plastic waste found in many of India’s garbage dumps, but the activists found the exhibit offensive and took it down.
Gauttam said the activists claimed the cow in the exhibit looked like it was hanging from a noose, which was disrespectful so they took the cow down and even garlanded it. The grounded cow exhibit continued to be part of the art fair.
Authorities say the incident is being investigated.
