A court in Chennai has sentenced Tamil actress Sangeetha to life imprisonment for the murder of film director Selva.
Reports say Sangeetha expected money and a major role in his films, but Selva told her he was not in a position to offer her both, so in a fit of rage Sangeetha strangled him and escaped from a lodge in Vadapalani in March 2007.
A special team of police arrested the actress. She was given bail later and had been absconding for 7 years. Police nabbed her again last year and filed a charge sheet against her.
An additional sessions court judge has sentenced her to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5,000.
