Antiques worth crores stolen from Delhi Jain Mandir

antiqBurglars broke into the Khandelwal Digambar Jain Mandir in Delhi and fled with idols, golden umbrellas and jewellery.

The antiques stolen from the 250 year old temple are estimated to be worth crores of Rupees.

Police recovered one bag containing an antique idol that was dropped by the thieves. The temple guards didn’t know of the break-in till 4 am.

CCTV footage showed 4 youths entering the premises after scaling the rear wall. They broke locks on the door to enter the sanctum sanctorum. The video showed one teenager enter the temple hall through a gap below the entrance.

The youths outside then slipped a pliers through a gap which the teenager used to break open the lock. The thieves then opened other locks and ransacked the temple.

The police received a call about the theft around 4 am when the security guards noticed the broken locks and informed the temple authorities.

The chief priest JK Jain said they are still trying to estimate the extent of the loss. The idols were made of precious alloys.
