The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a charge sheet against Lt General Jatinder Singh, 2 Colonels Kulbir Singh and AK Singh, and 8 others, for corruption and cheating in the appointment process of Group C employees at the National Defence Academy.
CBI said Jatinder Singh the then commandant of the NDA, and his staff officer and training officer among others, have been named in the charge sheet for criminal conspiracy and cheating under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused persons abused their positions and conspired with other private persons to cheat the government and obtain illegal gratifications from the applicants including division clerks, civilian motor drivers, cooks, gardeners, chowkidars, safaiwalas, etc. It was also alleged that the accused obtained huge illegal gratifications from a number of candidates by promising them appointments to the posts.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused that lead to the recovery of incriminating documents and large amounts of cash.
