Australian newspaper takes a racist dig at Indians

BACKausCrtnA cartoon in Rupert Murdoch’s newspaper The Australian, drawn by artist Bill Leak has received much criticism as it shows skinny Indian men clad in turbans and dhotis huddled around UN issued solar panels, taking them apart and discarding them as they ‘are no good because they cannot be eaten’.

The cartoon that was in rather poor taste has drawn widespread anger from within Australia and the rest of the world as well.

Over the years India has been the butt of racist cartoon humour, and given the recent Paris climate talks in which PM Narendra Modi played a significant role, this illustrated statement was particularly shocking to India and the world.
