Bajrang Dal activists in Bhopal and Ahmedabad, both BJP ruled states, intensified their protests and damaged theatres, smashed windows and raised slogans against the Aamir Khan starring movie PK, that has generated controversy for its portrayal of godmen and their misuse of religion for personal gain. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev also expressed his disapproval of PK that is directed by Rajkumar Hirani, and said the film should be boycotted by people. A number of FIRs have been registered across India against the film and Baba Ramdev asked Hindus to unite and protest against it. Another right wing group the Vishwa Hindu Parishad said the movie has several scenes that hurt religious sentiments of Hindus and wrote to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry demanding a curb on such movies. Prashant Patel the Secretary of the Hindu Legal Cell has reportedly lodged an FIR against director Hirani, actor Aamir Khan, producers Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Sidharth Roy Kapur. Khan trashed accusations of him having insulted he Hindu religion because he is a Muslim and said his Hindu friends have seen the film and did not feel insulted. Senior BJP leader L K Advani, who is a movie buff has hailed the movie as a 'wonderful and courageous film'. PK received rave reviews and got an excellent response at the Box Office, garnering over Rs.200 crore in the first week of its release.
