Bihar goes dry – total alcohol consumption ban

BACKbiharalcBanChief Minister Nitish Kumar is so pleased with the response to ban country liquor in the state that he advanced the date by 6 months, so Bihar has gone dry with immediate effect.

The surprise move means that as of now no alcohol can be legally consumed in all of Bihar, including bars and restaurants. The Chief Minister said ‘in the first 4 days of the ban on country liquor it has become a social movement. Even in cities, women are already opposing government-run shops selling liquor as was planned six months ahead, so he feels this is the right time for the change in Bihar.’

Bihar’s 243 state legislators also vowed to stay away from alcohol as politicians and policemen rushed to show their commitment to the Chief Minister’s pet project.
