BJP finally suspends MLA for threatening Medical Officer

Prahlad Gunjal, the BJP MLA of Rajasthan's Kota district was recorded threatening, abusing, and using vulgar language when speaking on the phone to the Chief Medical and Health Officer, R N Yadav, because he disallowed his relative's transfer. On the recording available with news channels Gunjal also abused the CMO's family members and threatened him with dire consequences for not authorising his relative's transfer. Gunjal was duly suspended from the party by the BJP though he had expressed regret for the incident even as Medical Officer Yadav resigned, protesting against the mental harassment over the issue of a transfer for a male nurse. He asked for an assurance from the government that he be allowed to work in a peaceful and congenial atmosphere, besides personal security. Government doctors boycotted work for two hours demanding the arrest of Gunjal.
