Following on from the fracas between Union finance minister Arun Jaitley and Arvind Kejriwal, BJP lawmaker and former cricketer Kirti Azad dared Arun Jaitley in his tweets, to sue him too for defamation,
Jaitley has filed a defamation suit against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders for accusing him of presiding over corruption in the Delhi District Cricket Association. He had also asked for Rs.10 crore in damages. The minister had headed the DDCA for 13 years till 2013.
Azad for his part showed a video that claimed the DDCA gave contracts to various companies with false addresses, and it alleged that the cricket body also hired inessential equipment.
The DDCA has admitted there were irregularities, but has absolved Mr Jaitley of any involvement.
Shortly after Azad’s revelations, the Kejriwal government announced an inquiry into DDCA’s corruption to be headed by the former Solicitor General of India.
