The body has been identified as Ranjeet Singh, 23, a resident of Ludhiana who had returned from Kuwait on June 15, to attend the ‘bhog’ of his friend’s father in the district.
Singh had been missing since July 1 after he went to meet his friend Gurvinder Singh at Subhanpur village. Police say that when he did not return home even on July 2, his father Inderjeet Singh called up the friend, who told him that his son had left for home with his uncle Satnam Singh after the ‘bhog’ ceremony.
Following this the police filed a missing case but later it was found that Satnam had met with an accident and was admitted to a hospital. When he was contacted, he denied having any knowledge of the deceased.
Police recovered the body of Ranjeet from the Ramidi flyover on the Jalandhar-Amritsar highway, the same place where Satnam had allegedly met with an accident four days earlier.
Police say they registered the missing case the same day and launched a hunt to find the man.
An investigation is underway and meanwhile the police have sent the body for post-mortem and the family has been informed.
