Case filed against Pokemon Go for hurting religious sentiments

pokemonA PIL has been filed in the Gujarat High Court against developers of the reality game Pokemon Go, saying it hurts religious sentiments of certain communities by showing eggs in places of worship.

The complaint filed by Alay Anil Dave, is likely to be heard shortly. His petition said eggs are considered non-vegetarian food, which is blasphemous to carry inside a place of worship of Hindus and Jains.

Among other points raised against the game, are that it infringes upon one’s privacy, and posts a threat of life and limbs to the Pokémon game players who have to walk around to score a point.

The San Francisco based developer of the game, Niantic Inc., and Central and state governments have been made the respondents.
