CBI arrests Haryana judge in murder case

judgeThe Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested sitting Haryana judge – Ravneet Garg, for the murder of his wife Geetanjali Garg in 2013.

Presently posted as a Civil Judge in Kaithai, Haryana, Ravneet Garg was the Chief Judicial Magistrate in 2013, when his wife’s bullet-ridden body was found at police lines in Gurgaon.The case was initially treated as a suicide but when Geetanjali’s family alleged that she was being harassed for dowry, a CBI enquiry was demanded.

CBI officials said the judge had been arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. He has been taken into CBI custody for 5 days.

The CBI had filed a case against Garg and his parents in 2013, a month after the murder.

Geetanjali’s family alleged that the harassment by Garg’s family began from the birth of the couple’s first daughter and things worsened after their second girl child was born. Her brother and father also demanded a narco test on Ravneet Garg.

The couple were married in 2007.
