Chhattisgarh student develops hi-tech toilet for trains

Hemrtripti Sahu a grade XI student and daughter of a farmer has developed a wind energy based toilet model for trains. Her invention has been selected for a science seminar in Japan as well.

Hemtripti’s model works on the basis of the speed of the train, which means it if is a fast speed train the flap below the toilet will automatically open and the waste will fall out, thus keeping the waste from the toilets away from the tracks near railway stations. The automatic door will close with the reduction in the speed of the train as it approaches a railway station.

Miss Sahu who is a resident of Dhaur village has been praised for her invention at district and state levels. Last year she also showcased the model at Inspire Award in Delhi.

She has now left for Japan for the science seminar.
