Chhattisgarh tribe to not marry daughters into toiletless homes

MERAchatisIn Chhatisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district 10,000 tribals of Halba have pledged not to marry their daughters or maintain a relationship with households that do not have toilets.

Following the pledge taken by the Halba community a ‘No toilet; No daughter or bread’ initiative has been launched in the district to motivate tribals to build toilets in their homes. This district is the home constituency of chief minister Dr Raman Singh, and it is soon going to achieve 100 percent open defecation free status.

The initiative has given a major boost to PM Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat campaign in Chhattisgarh.
