Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal called policemen ‘thulla’ during a
TV interview, shocking Police commissioner BS Bassi who said he refuses to believe the minister had used the word, that is derogatory slang commonly used in Delhi to refer to policemen.
Kejriwal had called a 10-day protest in Delhi last year to demand that the city’s police force be put under his government’s control, but the Centre refused because of Delhi’s status as the national capital.
This disagreement cast shadows over a key promise to fight graft that AAP leader Kejriwal had made to his voters.
Several Twitter users also criticised the insulting description.
