Court says ‘women must work too’ denies woman’s plea

BACKcrtA Delhi trial court rejected a woman’s plea seeking monetary help from her estranged husband, and said in today’s scenario women are expected to work and contribute economically to the household and not sit idle.

In this particular case the court noted that by her own admission she is a qualified beautician who has the skills to earn but chooses not to.

In her plea the woman said she was dependent on her parents and therefore her husband should provide her monthly maintenance from the Rs.60,000 per month that he earns.

The husband claimed he was unemployed.

The court rejected the woman’s application and the couple who have evidently wasted the court’s time and money, have not filed documentation to prove each other’s income.
