Punjab education minister Surjit Singh Rakhra caused a row when he played down the death of the girl who was killed after being molested and shoved off a moving bus owned by Punjab’s ruling Badal family. He said whatever happens, happens by God’s Will.
The family of the dead teenage victim decided not to cremate the body till the owners of the company running the bus service are booked for causing death by negligence. The father alleged he was being forced to reach a compromise and said he would not even allow an autopsy until his demand was met.
The bus in question is owned by Orbit Aviation, a company owned by Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal.
All four men behind the crime have been arrested and remanded to custody, but the father says his wife who was also thrown out of the bus, and his son were not convinced that the right men have been arrested.
