Declaration of Friendship after PM Modi/President Obama talks

India and the US have released a 'Declaration of Friendship' outlining the intent to elevate their long-standing strategic partnership, after PM Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama held talks, during which they opened up the 7-year logjam in operationalising the civil nuclear deal. Entitled "Chalein Saath Saath: forward together we go" the declaration underscores the two countries steps towards shaping international security and regional and global peace, proclaiming a higher level of trust and coordination. The two countries also decided to hold regular Summits and elevate the Strategic Dialogue to a Strategic and Commercial Dialogue. They also decided to cooperate to develop joint ventures on strategically significant projects and build meaningful security and effective counter-terrorism cooperation.
