In a scam that could have caused the Delhi Metro millions in revenue every day, officials at Ghitorni station were caught collecting tokens from passengers at exit gates and reselling them.
The station controller, who was allegedly involved in the racket has been suspended and charge sheeted and an enquiry has been initiated to assess the loss of revenue to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Initial estimates say the officials pocketed at least Rs.100,000 every day. An enquiry will also check if a similar scam was being run in other stations.
The scam was first noticed by CISF personnel who alerted the concerned authority, and CCTV footage proved the charges.
