Angry crowds gathered in Delhi to protest at and accuse the police of inaction over the ghastly gang-rape of toddlers, one a two-and-a-half year old who was abducted from a religious event by two men who raped her before dumping her in a park, and another incident where a five-year-old girl was lured into a neighbour’s house and raped by three men.
The crowd gathered near the toddler’s home and tried to block traffic and lambasted the police’s failure to make arrests in the cases.
The two attacks come as Delhi grapples with its grim litany of sexual assaults against women and in several recent cases, children
The police chief said they have launched a manhunt for the suspects but thus far no one has been arrested even though some people have taken it into their own hands to watch and trap suspects who they believe carried out the inhuman acts against the little girls.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed anguish over the rapes and blamed the central government who control the Delhi police.
