A woman who was on her way to drop her daughter to school in Delhi’s elite Gold Links area, was stopped by traffic constable Satish Chandra who asked for her RC and licence and demanded Rs.200 as a fine for crossing the red light.
An argument ensued and he said he would not give her a slip and the angry constable then hit her with a brick. She screamed and some passersby gathered to watch the unpleasant scene.
An FIR was registered and constable Chandra was arrested and immediately suspended.
Senior Delhi Police officials say they will take strict action against Chandra and former Commissioner of Delhi Police Ved Marwah said seeing a constable do this to a women is shocking and action must be taken against the offending cop.
