Disillusioned Scientist P M Bhargava to return Padma Bhushan

HAPPbhargavaIllustrious scientist P Bhargava said he has decided to return the Padma Bhushan award to the Ministry of Home Affairs with a letter, as he is worried about the future of India, because if the present trend continues, India would cease to be a democracy and become a theocratic country. ‘The future of democracy is at stake and I am very concerned about it’ he said.

Bhargava expressed concern over the RSS attending a meeting of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research labs and he was critical of the Government’s decision to reduce funding the CSIR labs.

MR Bhargava’s decision to return the Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian honour, came after over 100 scientists released a statement online expressing concern over the ‘climate of intolerance’ and the ways in which science and reason are eroding in the country.
