Neha Srivastava from Indiranagar who is in her late 20’s, and was among key persons wanted in the contract killing of businessman Abhay Singh, was finally nabbed after a manhunt that took over two years, during which a cash reward of Rs.5000 was announced, but it did not phase the woman.
The mother of a young child Neha lived near her native place and was eventually picked up from the house in Takrohi.
Neha gave up her studies after school when she met Nityanand of Gorakhpur, a notorious criminal who was booked in multiple murders and robberies in Lucknow and elsewhere. The two then married and lived together. Among their acquaintances were victim Abhay Singh and one Devendra Singh.
Police say Abhay got involved with a woman from Devendra’s family that he was not happy about, and he asked Nityanand to get him out of the way. Police are not certain what the couple were paid but they then targeted Abhay till eventually in 2012 Abhay’s body was found in Jaitpur area.
The state government transferred the investigation to the CBCID and consequently 8 people including Devendra were arrested. In the course of the probe they learned that Neha was the one who called up Abhay and was present at the site when Abhay was killed, making her a prime accused in the case.
