Fire at India’s largest ammunition depot kills 17

Pulgaon ammunition depotA fire broke out at the Pulgaon ammunition depot, causing the death of at least 17 army personnel. The depot, one of India’s largest, is located in Maharashtra state’s Wardha district.

Reports said some 19 other people were injured and about 1000 villagers were evacuated from around the area.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadanavis said the government is making every resource available to the army to help it control the situation, and is ensuring that all local hospitals are equipped to deal with the injured who were being brought in.
