Fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim celebrates 60th birthday

CRIMdawoodIndia’s most wanted underworld don and mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, Dawood Ibrahim has turned 60, and celebrated the day in Pakistan.

Reports say Dawood a designated terrorist, will retire from the underworld and appoint his closet confidante Chhota Shakeel as his successor. Other reports say he will hand over the reins of his crime syndicate to his younger brother Anees Ibrahim, and to Shakeel.

Relatives of Dawood, who is believed to be living in Karachi, have flown to Lahore from Dubai to attend the celebration that will also be attended by his business associates from Kenya and Nairobi.

Some in the know deny that Dawood lives in Pakistan. Home Minister Rajnath Singh has maintained that the government will leave no stone unturned to bring back Dawood who is said to be hiding in Pakistan under the patronage of ISI. The Pakistan High Commissioner to India has also asserted that his country is not hiding the infamous fugitive.
