Gujarati NRI youth dedicate lives to religious order

Twelve Non Resident Gujarati youths renounced their ambitions and took diksha to initiate life of Swaminarayan sant, dedicating their lives in the service of God, guru and society, in the presence of thousands of devotees gathered at Sarangpur. They received the blessings of Pramukh Swami maharaj. All 12 'diksharthis' are from Gujarati families settled abroad. Four are engineers, four are management graduates, 2 have masters degrees and four others are graduates Bochasanvasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS) has a facility to train new sants at its complex in Sarangpur where it inducts only educated persons as Sadhu. A fresher is inducted as a Sadhak and if found suitable he is sent home for one month and his behaviour and wishes are supervised. If found OK he is promoted to Parshad and wears a white dhoti and top. He then lives with Sadhus and gains religious knowledge and if he is found okay he is given Bhagwati diksha and offered saffron clothes and given a new name.
