Haryana cops charged for extorting money from NRI

india_against_corruption_On the orders of Superintendent of Police, Kurukshetra Simardeep Singh, a case was registered against three policemen including the SHO of Shahabad police station, for allegedly extorting money from an NRI with the help of a woman. The unnamed complainant alleged that the accused and a woman extorted Rs.500,000 by blackmailing him. Acting on the complaint Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar, Sub-inspector Virender and head constable Sukhpal were suspended and a preliminary investigation has been instituted. Since the allegations are serious, an FIR was registered on the basis of the interim report.
