Hyderabad Police arrest NRI who had abondoned wife at Shamsabad airport

Police arrested the NRI who had abandoned his wife and nine-month-old son at the RGI Airport a month ago. Y. Keerthisai Reddy, a US-based mechanical engineer has been booked for harassment, on the basis of complaint filed by his mother-in-law. Police said Keerthisai’s mother harassed his wife Sirisha and did not allow her to breastfeed their son.

The couple got married in April 2015 and went to the US where Keerthisai worked as a mechanical engineer in Virginia while Sirisha, an engineering graduate, was a housewife.

The harassment began after Sirisha gave birth to a boy. Keerthisai suspected her fidelity.
His mother Vanitha who also went to the US also started harassing her daughter-in-law.

Sirisha narrated her woes to her mother in Hyderabad, who approached the police with the help of NGOs and filed a complaint at the Vanasthalipuram police station in January.

The couple arrived at Hyderabad in February. After landing, Keerthisai drove home along with his mother, leaving Sirisha at the airport.

Left in the lurch, Sirisha approached the authorities who arranged a cab for her to reach her parents’ home in Vanasthalipuram.
