Honey Singh booked for obscene song lyrics
Report dated 18/05/2013 @ 12:52 PM

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has had a case registered against rapper Honey Singh for a section under the Indian Penal Code that covers singing, reciting or uttering obscene songs, ballads or words in or near a public place. Singh's songs were based on sexual themes and innuendos. The Court said singers like him should be boycotted as his songs are disrespectful to women. One particular lyric of his song translated into English says 'I am a Rapist'. Singh however claimed he only performed the song but had not written the lyrics. A volunteer organisation called HELP had filed a police complaint against Singh and some others in January but no action was taken against them till the high court stepped in.
