Report dated 17/09/2012 @ 2:56 PM

Professor creates 'shields' to protect from mobile tower radiation Girish Kumar a professor from IIT Mumbai, has invented shields that provide protection from harmful mobile tower radiation.

He believes that even though radiation levels have been brought down from their original power, it is still harmful, can cause health hazards and affect the ecosystem.

Kumar's shields protect humans and their houses. He has developed a pocket radiation shield to protect himself from his mobile phone. He has also created curtains, wallpapers, window films with a special electronic component that absorbs radiation, table-top shields and pocket radiation shields, all of which absorb mobile tower radiation and reduces the ill-effect on humans.

Report dated 17/09/2012 @ 2:26 PM

Mumbai’s Dhoble made 550 raids, 5000 arrests in 17 months Tasked with the job of putting Mumbai's nightlife in order, the assistant commissioner of police Vasant Dhoble conducted 550 raids, rescued over 1200 girls from bars and brothels and arrested over 5000 for forcing women into the flesh trade.

He was brought to the social service branch and his raids conducted with his trademark hockey stick, invited criticisms of harassment. Dhoble raided pubs, five-star hotels, lodges, restaurants and eateries that stayed open after closing time. Inspite of being severely criticised Dhoble also had a lot of supporters in the residents who live in proximity to the joints.

On a new posting now, Dhoble has turned his attention to the problem of child labourers.
