Aamir says medical profession has shamed itself, not his TV show

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has refused to apologise to the Indian Medical Association (IMA) that accused him of defaming the medical profession through his TV show' Satyamev Jayate' and said he is prepared to face any legal action threatened by it. Khan also denied the IMA's charge of defaming the profession, saying he in fact has the highest respect and regard for the medical profession. He even had a number of extremely positive responses from some doctors including the head of the Medical Council of India. Khan who has been focusing on social issues through the show, said his show is not against doctors or the medical profession, and if some felt insulted it is probably those who indulge in unethical practises.
Mumbai voted world's 2nd best city for men

According to a list compiled by male website AskMen.com and Renaissance Hotels, that asked men to nominate what they thought were the world's best cities for men to visit, London and Mumbai topped the list. London led the list of 29 cities that made the final shortlists selected by the site's users. Mumbai came in at second place "because it's the adventure of a lifetime" and noted events such as the Sunburn Mumbai music festival and Mumbai International Film Festival offered some cultural spice. The site's editors noted that London will host the Olympic Games this summer as well as a cultural festival, describing it as "the centre of the world this year." Washington DC came in third, Rio de Janiero, Brazil fourth and Shanghai China fifth.
"Muslim girls can marry at 15 if they attain puberty"

The Delhi high court ruled that a Muslim girl can marry per her choice at the age of 15 if she has attained puberty as according to Islamic law a girl can marry without the consent of her parents once she attains the age of puberty, and she has the right to live with her husband even if she is below the age of 18. The ruling was made during the case of a 16-year-old girl's plea to allow her to stay in her matrimonial home, after her mother alleged her daughter was kidnapped by a young man and forced into marriage. To ascertain the girl's well being, the court also directed the married couple and in-laws to appear before the Child Welfare Committee once every six months till the girl attains majority.
11 accused policemen finally surrender for fake encounter

Eleven of the eighteen Uttarakhand Police personnel accused in the 2009 fake encounter of MBA student Ranbir Singh in Dehradun, surrendered and were sent to judicial custody. They are among the 18 charged-sheeted by the CBI. They were arrested in the wake of evidence that Singh 22, was gunned down after being caught when he and his companions were allegedly trying to commit a crime in 2009. July 4 has been fixed as the next date of hearing and the court allowed the plea of the 11 accused that they be kept together in jail as, being police personnel, they fear other inmates. The other accused are lodged in Tihar Jail.
Cricketer Sachin becomes Parliamentarian Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar was sworn in by Chairman of the upper house and vice president of India Hamid Ansari, to become the first cricketer to enter Parliament while still playing for his country. Tendulkar 39, is among 12 nominated members chosen for their expertise in specific fields. The Rajya Sabha has 250 members with six-year tenures, most of whom are elected. Notable personalities from literature, art and social services have been nominated before, but Tendulkar is the first sportsman to enter the upper house via a nominated seat. Tendulkar who holds several cricket records including the most runs and most centuries in both tests and one-day internationals, could not take his oath earlier because he was busy playing for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League.
