Punjab to have 3 more Passport Sewa Kendras

Three Passport Sewa Kendras (PSKs) have been started in Doaba region, the NRI heartland, where the regional passport office has always had an endless rush of applicants. Two PSKs were opened in Jalandhar where numbers have drastically reduced in the processing and time taken in issuing a passport. One PSK is to be in Hoshiarpur.

Thadahathi, aged 102, has dispensed medical care to the residents of Pudukulam village, Madurai, for decades. The feisty centenarian has won elections in the recent civic polls held in Tamil Nadu and is now a ward member. The president of the village says she won because of her positive attitude.
The late Steve Jobs said India taught him 'intuition'

In an interview with CBS biographer Walter Isaacson, the late Steve Jobs told him his seven months spent wandering in India in search of spiritual enlightenment, were 'not a waste of time' it's where he learned 'intuition'. Jobs' design sense was greatly influenced by the simplicities of Zen Buddhism. He said people in India are not just pure rational thinkers, that the great spiritual ones also have intuition. After his return from India, Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple computers in his parents' garage with an initial investment of $1300. Isaacson's book "Steve Jobs" is to be released in bookstores in the next few days.
Bollywood's Shiney Ahuja sues for cellphone ad that lampoons him

Actor Shiney Ahuja who is out on bail after being accused of raping his housemaid, has taken legal action against a mobile phone advertisement that takes a dig at the scandal. The ad called the 'Bai commercial' was released ahead of Diwali and shows a young girl saying "Shiney bought me a new 'Bling'. Another girl says "He bought me one too" and shows off the handset. Then another phone rings and a maid is shown with the same handset and says "Sahab bought me one too". Ahuja's publicist Dale Bhagwagar said the advertisement amounts to willful character assasination. Ahuja has sent a legal notice to the company. In March Ahuja was sentenced to 7 years prison for raping his maid in 2009. He was later released on bail by the High Court.
Mobile subscriber base in India now 865.7 million

Mobile phone subscribers in India climbed to 865.7 million in August. Overall density reached 74.96. This implies that every company offering services, including Idea Cellular, the temporary database visitor location register (VLR), Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone all saw healthy increases in users. India is, in the words of one wise wit, clearly 'connected'!
