Rajya Sabha erupts in bedlam …
Report dated 23/03/2013 @ 2:24 PM

The Rajya Sabha was the shocking scene of members tantrums and flying papers, literally, as acrimonious exchanges were rife when the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils came up. The exchanges occurred between the DMK and Congress member Renuka Chowdhury over remarks she made after adjourning the House for the day. All in all it was bedlam, as mikes were wrenched and papers thrown into the air, with members calling some remarks totally un-parliamentary. It is not entirely clear what remarks kicked off the fracas, but it was enough to make Chowdhury later apologise to the House.
