To commemorate the history of India’s technological inventions National Technology Day is celebrated every May 11, a day that is significant as India successfully tested nuclear bombs in Pokhran on May 11 1998.
Some of the feats India celebrates are:
Water on the Moon one of the biggest discoveries in space research, that was discovered by India’s own satellite Chandrayaan in 2009.
Fiber Optics communication that revolutionized the way the world communicates, thereby bringing the global community closer and shortening the distance between people, that was discovered by Dr Narendra Singh Kapany, in 1954.
Marconi’s Wireless receiver that was invented by Sir J C Bose who invented the Mercury Coherer that was used by Guglielmo Marconi to receive a radio signal in his first transatlantic radio communication in 1901.
India was also pioneers in Metallurgy, by Muhammad Salih Thattvi in 1599 in Kashmir, and Plastic Surgery by physician Sushruta who in the 6th century BC performed reconstruction of the nose.
