India evacuates citizens from South Sudan

SouthSudanIndia has launched operation ‘Sankat Mochan’ to evacuate its citizens from South Sudan. Union Minister VK Singh will oversee the operation as he leaves for Juba shortly.

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said Minister Singh will be accompanied by Secretary Amar Singh, JS Satbir Singh, and Director Anjani Kumar. India’s Ambassador in South Sudan, Srikumar Menon and his team are organising the operation on the ground.

The development came a day after Swaraj said the government had set up a special task force to evacuate Indian citizens from the war-torn country.
