India receives 3 times more foreign remittances than FDI

India receives the highest amount of remittances in the world at around $70 billion, which is almost 3 times the amount of FDI the country receives. Data shows that the bulk of remittances come from the Arabian Gulf, western developed nations such as the US or Australia and neighbours Bangladesh and Nepal.
