India shows up the American so-called 'elite space club'

On September 24, India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) probe achieved the grand finale of its 10 month mission when it entered the Red Planet's gravitational field, thus making India just the fourth country to successfully send a space vehicle into Mars orbit. In the wake of the NYT's condescending cartoon that raised eyebrows and earned an apology, an Indian daily paraphrased PM Narendra Modi who said he'd "like America to believe that we're no longer a land of snake charmers," saying India who made the mission at a fraction of the cost incurred by other countries, is still teaching a thing or two to the 'elite space club' who appear to be a bunch of stodgy xenophobic fogeys. In all fairness the Indian Space Agency did receive kudos, with NASA Administrator Charles Bolden's statement of congratulations to India and welcoming India to the family of nations studying another facet of the Red Planet.
