India wins first S Asian Women's Volleyball championship

India won its first South Asian Women's Volleyball Championship title in Kathmandu, when it topped the table with 12 points from four consecutive victories. The winning team won a cash prize of $2000. Nepal took second place above Sri Lanka. Bangladesh was at the bottom of the table while the Maldives garnered three point from its win against Bangladesh. The next edition of the tournament is to be held in India on a date that is yet to be confirmed.
