Information commissioner raided, huge illegal assets found

The Anti Corruption Bureau raided the homes of information commissioner Deepak Deshpande in Mumbai and Aurangabad and found he had stashed away huge assets.

Preliminary investigations say Deshpande also has 2 shops, five acres of land in Pune and Aurangabad, one and a half kgs of gold, 27 kgs of silver, bonds and fixed deposits of Rs.2.5 crores and 6000 shares in various investments.

The additional commissioner of police said it is a continuous process and they are still recounting the seizures and will reveal his total assets shortly.

Deshpande’s name had cropped up in the ACB investigations in cases in which he was booked along with Chaggan Bhujbal for alleged irregularities.
