ISRO’s Diwali gift – Successful launch of advanced Satellite

BACKisrodgThe Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) gave India a Diwali gift – it successfully launched the indigenous GSAT-16 communications satellite, using the Ariane-5 rocket. The GSAT-15 was launched from Kourou in French Guyana in South America.

The GSAT made at a cost of Rs.278 crores carries 24 transponders that will help in Direct-to-Home broadcasting. It also carries a GPS Aided GEO Augmented Navigation payload operating in L1 and L5 bands, that will help in aircraft navigation.
