Journalist Rajdeo Ranjan shot dead in Bihar

MERAjourrANJANRajdeo Ranjan, 40, the Siwan, Bihar chief of the national Hindu Daily, Hindustan, was on his motorcycle when Assailants shot at him point blank three times in the head and neck killing him on the spot near the Siwan railway station.

Siwan is said to be the backyard of RJD chief Lalu Prasad who was in the nearby village of Panki to campaign for a by-election, and visited the journalist’s home to mourn his murder by the criminals.

India ranks 133 among 180 in the World Press Freedom Index of 2016. Last year 9 journalists were killed.
