Kamal Haasan to receive French honour

kamal-hassanActor Kamal Haasan has been appointed ‘Knight in the National Order of Arts and Letters, by the Minister of Culture and Communication, France.

Adding another feather to his cap this distinction is in recognition of his high degree of artistic excellence and his distinguished career achievements. The honor will be conferred at a special ceremony.

The name Kamal Haasan is synonymous with dedication to arts and cinema, being one of the most versatile actors. He has won several awards and accolades.

In a career spanning over 5 decades he has won 3 awards for Best Actor and the President’s Gold Medal for the Best Child Artist for the film Kalathur Kannamma. In 2014 he was conferred with the Padma Bhushan by the Indian government.

Other Indians who have been awarded the Chevalier Order include Sivaji Ganesan, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Nandita Das and Shah Rukh Khan.
