According to the chief election commissioner Nalini Netto, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, any Keralite anywhere in the world who has a computer and the Internet can now register their names online at www.ceo.kerala.gov.in and carry out their online registration for the upcoming special summary annual revision of electoral rolls. Netto said once this is done a registration number will be sent through an SMS, and once the application is processed the result will also be intimated through an SMS. Voters can also indicate their preferences on if they wish to receive the elector photo ID card through the post. All non-resident Keralites whose names did not figure in the electoral list, can avail of the service. The latest online registration of voters list begins Nov 1 and will continue till Nov 25. NRKeralites names will appear under the NRI category in the electoral list and if they are in the state when a poll is taking place, they can cast their votes. According to a recent study the number of emigrants in 2014 from Kerala is 23.63 lakhs. 90 percent of the state's diaspora live in Middle East countries.
