The city, with a population of 66,887 will attract plenty of interest over the next days as MS Dhoni’s team plays the current Twenty20 champions in two matches on the weekend of August 27 and 28.
The two matches are by far the biggest that Lauderhill’s Central Broward Regional Park Stadium has played host to. This year between July 28-31 Lauderhill revived its connection with cricket when six CPL matches were held in an attempt by the USA Cricket Association to keep the stadium relevant.
The India v West Indies T20s could prove to be the most commercially viable series for Lauderhill, owing to the status of the 2 teams and in particular Dhoni’s team. The organisers also hope these 2 fixtures appeal to both the south Asian and Caribbean community in the region.
